Emily Peterson Alva is an experienced public company director, and a respected finance and strategy executive who has spent more than two decades in boardrooms of major corporations. Ms. Alva has deep experience leading boards of large multi-national companies and growth companies alike, on matters affecting corporate strategy across sectors including healthcare, industrial, consumer, technology, financial services as well as private equity and other investor owned businesses. As a board member, advisor and speaker, Ms. Alva is distinguished by her extensive experience in complex strategic, transactional and governance matters.

Ms. Alva currently serves on the board of Amneal Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSE: AMRX, global healthcare manufacturing business with 2019 Revenues ~$2 billion).  Amneal is a generic and specialty pharmaceutical products manufacturer and distributor. Ms. Alva’s public company committee experience includes serving on the Amneal Audit Committee, and the Amneal Technology & Operational Compliance Committee, a risk oversight mandate that covers manufacturing, technology, compliance and strategy.

Leveraging the expertise developed over a long career on Wall Street and operating perspective informed by her early work at a technology driven startup, Ms. Alva works today as a strategic advisor to founders and leadership teams of private growth companies, and she is also a private investor.  Ms. Alva was Partner at Lazard, the global investment bank, where she spent almost twenty years as an advisor to Boards of Directors and CEOs across industries. Ms. Alva has a notable track record of leading companies and their boards through defining corporate events including, complex mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, business separations, sales, strategic investments, capital markets including equity and debt financings, capital structure, and shareholder activism.  

Ms. Alva was one of the youngest professionals promoted to the role of Partner at Lazard, and one of the first woman to be promoted to the level of Managing Director in New York. While at Lazard, she held numerous leadership roles, both with client companies and internally, advising some of Lazard’s most important global clients over the years. Throughout her career, Ms. Alva has been a mentor to women on Wall Street across a wide range of roles and career stages.  Ms. Alva is a speaker on a variety of corporate governance matters and leadership topics that impact the success of rising women business leaders.

Ms. Alva received a B.A. in Economics from Barnard College, Columbia University.  She lives in New York City with her husband and five children.
