Jim is a successful Catholic businessman and entrepreneur with over 50 years of experience in the Health Care and Financial Service Industries. He is the retired founder, President, and CEO of the national specialty finance firm JG Wentworth. James is the founder and CEO of JD Capital, Inc., a merchant bank with healthcare and specialty finance investments. 

Jim has business degrees from St Joseph’s University (BA, MBA) and Widener University (MS-Tax). He is also a St. Charles Borromeo Seminary’s Church Ministry Institute graduate. 

Jim has served the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in a variety of ministries including as the Treasurer and Trustee at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Chairman of the Board of Neumann University in Aston, PA, Treasurer of the Heritage of Faith-Vision of Hope Foundation, Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council to the Office of Stewardship and Development, and board member of Bonner Prendergast Catholic High School. Jim was appointed by Archbishop Chaput to serve on the National Advisory Council of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Catholic Leadership Institute “CLI”, the Foundation for Catholic Education, Catholic Athletes for Christ, Prayers Unite the World, Caring for Friends, the Catholic Philopatrian Literary Institute “PHILO”, the National Catholic Community Foundation, and the Irish American Business Chamber and Network. He is also engaged as an advisor to the President of Malvern Retreat House.

Jim and his wife, Jacki have received numerous awards for their contribution to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and local charities. They recently received an Honorary Doctor of Humanities from Neumann University and were honored with the title of Papal Knight and Lady of the Order of Saint Gregory the Great by Pope Francis.

They have 3 children, 6 grandchildren and make their home in Malvern, PA.

Jacki is involved in many faith-based philanthropic endeavors in the Philadelphia area. Jacki has volunteered with Catholic Social Services (CSS) for over twenty years. Currently, she is serving her second term on the CSS Board of Directors. She serves on the Board Service Committee Community Based Services and Housing and Homeless. For the past eighteen years, she has chaired the committee for the Archbishop’s Benefit for Children (ABC), a year-round initiative to financially support CSS children and youth programs throughout the five Philadelphia counties. The ABC culminates yearly with a Christmas party for over 500 children in CSS programs.  

Jacki is the Immediate Past Chair and first woman Chairman of Malvern Retreat House, the oldest and largest retreat house in the United States. 

She was the co-founder and President Emeritus of the Barnes Foundation Alumni Association, a former member of Haverford College Arboretum Association, and secretary to the regional executive committee of the Garden Club of America.

A love of gardening has inspired her life for many years. She is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University, the Arboretum School of The Barnes Foundation, and completed the Landscape Design Program of The Morris Arboretum. In addition, she is an awarding winning designer at the Philadelphia Flower Show. Now, she is using her talents to assist in the creation of an advisory board for the Barnes Arboretum at Saint Joseph’s University.

Jacki and her husband have received numerous awards for their contributions to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and local charities.
