Dr. John P. Mamana is one of those rare physicians whose vast experience in the practice and teaching of medicine has been singled out to be in a class of its own. A prominent Board Certified Internist and a pioneer in primary care, he was given a Presidential Citation for his work in the Public Health Service as a Full Surgeon for his leadership in establishing the National Health Service Corps to care for communities under-served by physicians and care givers.

For many years, he was listed among the top physicians and internists in the Washington DC area by Washington Magazine. Dr. Mamana continues to lecture internationally on preventative medicine and the early diagnosis and treatment of disease. He is a board member of MAMSI (NYSE) and American Health Properties (NYSE).

Prior to his present endeavors, he was Chairman of Internal Medicine at Inova Fairfax Hospital for 20 years until 1997, President of Fairfax Hospital Medical Staff for 2 years until 1992, Chairman of the Council of Physicians for the American Hospital Association for three years until 1982, and member of the Board of Trustees and Technology Council of AHA for three years until 1982.

Dr. Mamana received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University. He received his MD from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine from University of Pennsylvania.
