Mark Percy grew up in a family devoted to public and
community service, and for more than two decades he
has integrated a distinguished business career with
leadership in the non-profit sector. As the PATHNORTH Director of Philanthropy and External Affairs, he blends
creative philanthropy into the various forum programs
and explores the deeper meaning of philanthropy to
our lives, families, and communities.
Mark received
his BA from Stanford University and an MBA from Yale
University. Between 1986 and
2008 he held executive positions primarily in privately
held firms—including President of a family business. He
also spent 4 years guiding the government business
development initiatives of a Fortune 500 corporation. Since
the late 80s, he led or co-led teams that were awarded
over $500 million in new government contracts, mainly
in international emerging markets, but also at the
state and local level in the U.S.
Today, Mark is Principal
of Next Generation Strategies, LLC (www.NGS-LLC.com). He founded
the firm with a dual mission: 1) to advise families
on how to engage more deeply in effective philanthropy,
and 2) to use philanthropy as a means to preserve family
unity, wealth, and values through the next generation. He
serves on the board of endPoverty.org, a non-profit
that transforms lives through microenterprise in some
of the poorest countries in the world. He also
serves on the National Leadership Council for Communities
in Schools.
After
residing for 20 years in Washington, DC, Mark and his
wife, Leslee, moved in 2005 to California, where she
grew up, and where they had met more than 30 years
ago. Their two adult children, Taylor
and Gavin, also live in Southern California.
