Mark is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy and divides his time between serving as Executive Director of Kay Family Foundation, a leading private foundation in Orange County, CA (www.kayff.org), and managing an independent, conflict-free philanthropic advisory firm, Next Generation Strategies, LLC (www.NGS-LLC.com).
He works closely with wealth holders to clarify their giving decisions in light of their core principals, values, and goals. The process enables them to realize greater meaning and satisfaction in their philanthropy, achieve greater impact, and if they desire, benefit their family through unified giving.
Mark has led and participated in many non-profit ventures over the past three decades. He is a founding organizer and current member of the Orange County Chapter of Advisors in Philanthropy and is Chairman of its Education Committee. He is a Board member of Child S.H.A.R.E., which finds safe, loving and stable homes for abused children, and is a member of the Orange County Community Foundation’s Veterans Services Initiative, which focuses on finding jobs for post-9/11 vets in OC.
Mark received his BA from Stanford University, and MBA from Yale University. From 1986 to 2008 he held executive positions primarily in privately held firms—including president of a family business that strategically empowered US companies, including AT&T, Motorola, Westinghouse, and United Technologies, to expand business in emerging market economies. For 4 years he lead the government business development initiatives of a Fortune 500 corporation.
Mark observes how many of us have seen the dangers of wealth and power completely underestimated until it is too late. . . until something devastating and unforeseen occurs in the life of a widely respected leader. Almost always it is isolation - the often inevitable isolation that accompanies great success - that is one of the root causes of such a downfall. PathNorth celebrates a life of success that is filled with true meaning and significance on multiple levels. People leave PathNorth gatherings refreshed, more hopeful, and excited about new discoveries (or rediscoveries) in their lives.
